NLP Data Scientist

Athenium Analytics is seeking a Data Scientist with Natural Language Processing (NLP) expertise to assist the Data Science team in innovative data manipulation, analysis, predictive modeling, and delivery to commercial and government customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing code pipelines for cleansing and processing unstructured data
  • Applying NLP techniques and tools to extract meaningful information from free-text data
  • Serving as an NLP subject matter expert, being available for consultation with other team members on techniques and best practices
  • Statistical and machine learning model development, validation, and implementation
  • Working both independently and with team members to develop, refine, implement, and scale data management and analytics procedures and systems
  • Collaborating with data warehouse engineers and software developers to build data inputs to business-ready products

Minimum qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field
  • Significant programming experience with Python
  • Familiarity with a Linux environment and shell scripting
  • Working knowledge of statistical and predictive modeling concepts
  • Experience using NLP software libraries and toolkits (e.g., NLTK, spaCy)
  • Experience with a variety of NLP tasks (e.g. Document Classification, Named Entity Recognition, Information Extraction, Named Entity Linking, Sentiment Analysis, Topic Modeling)
  • Desire to learn about, explore, and invent new tools for solving real-world problems using datA

Preferred qualifications

  • Cloud computing experience, Amazon Web Services (AWS) a plus
  • Proficiency with data extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes with a variety of data types and data storage systems
  • Familiarity with deep learning algorithms and libraries (e.g., Tensorflow, PyTorch, HuggingFace, Transformers)

Work location

This full time position will ideally be based in Dover, NH. Remote candidates will be considered.
